Roberto Villicana

Construction Paralegal

Roberto Villacana is a Paralegal at Plumtree & Brunner, LLP.
Roberto’s adaptability, work ethic, and commitment to continuous growth make him a valuable member of the Plumtree & Brunner team. Since entering the legal field, Roberto has embraced every opportunity to expand his knowledge of the construction industry and the legal process. Although he began with little prior experience in either area, Roberto quickly developed a strong understanding of the industry and continues to approach each new challenge with confidence, determination, and a willingness to learn.

Roberto particularly enjoys representing contractors because he understands the challenges they often face when dealing with the California Contractors State License Board (“CSLB”) and disputes within the construction industry. He takes pride in helping contractors protect their licenses, businesses, and livelihoods, and finds fulfillment in advocating for clients who feel they have been treated unfairly by homeowners, prime contractors, and/or regulatory agencies like the CSLB. For Roberto, being part of a team that helps contractors navigate difficult situations and achieve positive outcomes is both meaningful and rewarding.

One of Roberto’s greatest strengths is his ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and systems. He is highly tech-savvy and comfortable mastering unfamiliar software and applications in a short amount of time. Roberto also brings a strong sense of responsibility and dedication to his work, consistently pushing himself to complete assignments thoroughly and efficiently. His commitment to seeing projects through to completion reflects the professionalism and reliability he brings to every task.

Roberto earned his bachelor’s degree in history from California State University, Long Beach in 2023, where he focused his studies on United States and World History. He also obtained his Paralegal Certificate from Cal State Long Beach, which provided the foundation for his career in the legal profession.
During high school, Roberto participated in both the MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement) Club and the Green Club. Through MESA, he collaborated on engineering-based projects and competitions, including designing and building a balsa wood glider for distance competitions. His involvement in these organizations helped foster his interest in problem-solving, collaboration, and hands-on learning.

Outside of work, Roberto enjoys following sports and playing video games. Raised in a family of baseball players, he developed a lifelong appreciation for athletics and remains an avid fan of baseball and football, particularly the St. Louis Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers.
